Description

A rich, creamy dip filled with succulent shrimp and sweet crab meat, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 g shrimp, chopped small
  • 200 g crab meat, fresh or canned
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 200 g cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley
  • Optional: 1/2 tsp Old Bay or Cajun seasoning
  • Extra mozzarella and cheddar for topping
  • Paprika or chili flakes for garnish

Instructions

  1. Sautéing the shrimp: Start by melting the butter in a pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, until fragrant. Be careful not to let it brown! Next, toss in the chopped shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes, just until the shrimp turns pink—this means it’s done! Season with paprika, salt, and pepper, then remove from heat and stir in the crab meat.
  2. Making the creamy base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, shredded mozzarella, shredded cheddar, grated parmesan, lemon juice, chopped parsley, and any additional seasoning you prefer (like Old Bay or Cajun seasoning). Mix everything together until you achieve a smooth and creamy consistency.
  3. Combining the seafood and cheese mixture: Gently fold the sautéed shrimp and crab mixture into the creamy base. Take your time with this step to ensure everything is evenly distributed without breaking up the shrimp too much.
  4. Baking to perfection: Spread the mixture into a small baking dish. Top with extra mozzarella and cheddar for that gooey, melty layer. Sprinkle a little paprika on top for garnish. Place in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) and bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly and golden brown on top.
  5. Serving suggestions: Let the dip cool for a few minutes before diving in. Serve with toasted baguette slices, crispy crackers, tortilla chips, or crunchy veggie sticks for dipping. Your guests will love it!

Notes

If using canned crab, look for brands packed in water with low sodium. The dip can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
